Let’s not lie to ourselves. Working out can hurt, but it can actually give you some good feelings in the brain. Working out helps our bodies create endorphins. Endorphins are the feel good gift after a hard work out. If you are thinking of working out hard and being sore later then think again. Your body might ache, but the mental reward is being elevated without any drugs. So if you are feeling depressed or stressed and want some feel good emotions without intimacy? Run for it! Literally. Go hop on a track or exercise machine and run for that feeling. Push yourself each time you workout for that burst of energy you didn't know you had hiding. It’s going to come at the end and is way more reliable than some significant others because you know your body gives rewards to you for your efforts unlike some bed-mates…
The first step towards getting rid of binge eating is to admit that it’s done. It can be done for holidays, vacations, emotional upheaval, or just sitting down and not realizing it. There is no magic pill. However, there are steps to take to consider alternatives:
· Yoga—controlling stress makes it less likely that you will emotionally binge eat
· Drink water throughout the day—feelings of hunger if you are trying to diet can make one binge eat if they “break.” Watching what you eat doesn’t mean you have to train yourself to starve. This cycle is intense and can lead to diets that never get back on track.
· Pregame—eat a salad first before you start any big meal. This means that even if you wanted to eat everything on your plate and then some there won’t be enough room.
· Cardio—Cardio helps pump the body with endorphins (natural feel good energy), which makes it less likely that one will feel the need to binge eat from emotional upheaval.
· Eat what you want, but in moderation—Losing weight quickly is always great, but don’t deny yourself the food you are used to eating. Eat smaller portions as you phase out the bad food without forcing you to give up your guilty favorites right away.
· Eat healthy food---Eating food that is bad for you means that you won’t feel full longer. Those diets that tell you that you can eat whatever you want and not gain weight lie. I can start eating twenty donuts and get sick before I get full. Junk food cravings are fine, but they shouldn’t be a staple in the diet.
· Distract yourself--If you know your desire to eat isn’t due to hunger go for a drive, clean the house, put on some fun music, read a book, etc. Look for simple things or new things to take your mind off of food.
· Watch a comedy show—Sometimes you can’t find the cheering up you need from your inner circle, but it can be found around you.
· Get a hobby that you are passionate about—If you enjoy what you are doing then you are more content.
· Give to the poor—This can help put a different perspective on food. Emotional eating is a struggle and fighting it by helping others can only help with our personal growth.
Here is a great recipe that helps with weight loss due to the fiber, and fat burning qualities. The chia seeds help you feel full longer. I use it as a meal replacement for breakfast. I switch it up with other smoothies, but this one is my favorite.
What you will need:
Mango (optional but I love when I add mango)
Liquid (coconut water, green tea, or just plain water)
Some people use a juicer to put everything together. Maybe one day I will. I just a little blender and it seems to get the job done fine.
